Take a trip back to the Roaring ’20s for an unforgettable evening of music, entertainment, and raucous celebration at North Jersey Pride’s winter fundraiser. We’ll supply the moonshine and dancers, you bring the corsets and top hats. Creative black tie attire requested, with as much color as you like! Must be 21. (See the friendly FAQ for more details!)
Proceeds from the night will benefit RAD Kids, NJP’s social support network for families of transgender and gender-fluid youth, which connects parents and youth with other “RAD Families” as they navigate growing into their authentic selves.
Since its launch a year ago, RAD Kids has seen attendance grow exponentially at events, with families coming from all over North Jersey, including Essex, Sussex, Bergen, Middlesex and Hudson counties. Events have included an end-of-summer beach party; a bingo and potluck dinner; an afternoon at Jumpnasium; a facilitated discussion with a mental health professional specializing in gender issues; and most recently, a holiday party that drew more than 80 attendees!
We believe no child should have to fit into a binary gender box to get the love and acceptance they deserve. RAD Kids hopes to give gender-creative youth a space for self-expression and empower them to take their place in the world—exactly as they are.
What some of our families have to say:
“RAD Kids is a safe place to land no matter where you are on this journey of raising a transgender or gender creative kid. It’s a community that truly meets folks where they are and says it’s okay to not fit into the world’s boxes! That’s something that’s not easy to find and is quite literally life saving to many trans and gender creative youth and their families.” —Jamie, mother of 11 year-old child
“RAD kids has offered my family a place to gain greater support and knowledge for the road ahead. For my child, RAD Kids provides a place to see other kids like him and to have fun. Sometimes after a RAD kids hangout, on the drive home, we are able to have some of the most open and honest conversations about the challenges and pride that comes with being a transgender, non binary or gender creative kid.” —Mary, parent of 8 year-old child
Beginning in January, RAD Kids, along with our new group, RAD Teens, will host monthly support meetings and quarterly social events. Your ticket purchase and donation to the Burlesque Ball will help NJP to fund a full year of programming for RAD Kids & Teens.
Tickets for the Ball will go on sale in December, with a presale for a limited number of discounted tickets available to those who have the discount code. If you haven’t already, sign up to get NJP email (we never share addresses and we hate spam!) and you’ll get the notification as soon as sales are open for the discount.
Going with a group? Consider purchasing a sponsorship package (available as an option on the Showclix ticketing site). You’ll get multiple tickets, drink tickets, ad space, recognition, a bigger tax deduction—and the personal satisfaction that comes with knowing you’ve gone the extra mile for a worthwhile cause. If you own a business, consider a corporate sponsorship, which will give you advertising space in the Event Program and your company’s name on the board, in addition to tickets, drinks, and all the aforementioned warm-and-fuzzy feelings. Or purchase an ad in the Event Program directly and get your pro-LGBTQ message out to more than 300 attendees.
Attendees MUST be 21-and-over to enter and ID will be checked.
