About the Event
North Jersey Pride presents a special screening of "From Selma to Stonewall," an exploration of the similarities, differences, and conflicts between the black civil rights and gays rights movements. This 60-minute documentary follows a “black, straight preacher and a white, lesbian activist” as they seek to find the intersection between the Civil Rights and the LGBTQ Equality movements.
Following the documentary, WNYC's Nancy Solomon will host a Q&A with the film's co-executive producer and co-star, Rev. Gilbert Caldwell; Rev. Kevin Taylor, Senior Pastor of Unity Fellowship Church NewArk; Rev. Jerri Mitchell-Lee, co-pastor of the Unity Fellowship Church NewArk, educator and mental health counselor; and Elaine Helms, founder of Reaching Adolescents in Need, (RAIN) Foundation, which houses homeless LGBTQ youth.
Snacks and drinks provided. Wine will be available for 21+ - please bring ID!
